Nov. 4, 2008 “Shoulder’s Hurt? You Can Fix Them”
The top 3 photo’s show the position to loosen your thoracic spine and begin to stretch your tight chest muscles. The 1st photo shows the towel position, the 2nd shows your position lying down with knees bent and a hand thickness space in the lower back, fingers laced under your head. The 3rd photo shows moving the elbows out to the side, without elevating the shoulders, to stretch the chest.
The next 2 photos show a simple way to stretch each side of your chest. Open hand, straight elbow with arm forward of being directly out to your side. Slowly turn your torso away from your hand to begin to feel stretch in the chest and finally turn your head away to increase stretch.
This last photo is a relief sleeping position for your shoulders. A pillow under your arm and above your hip, 2 pillows for your head and a body pillow between your legs and under your top arm ( instead of the blue foam roll we used).
